The parcel took a looooong time to arrive, but here is what I found at my door:

The bag is beautiful! Large, cute, functional, well made... I couldn't have dreamed something nicer! And on the top of it she attached a small gift. How sweet!
Now I'm going to have a beautiful bag to carry everything the Mom I am needs (diapers, changing mat, wipes, sun hats, change of cloths, etc.) And on the top of it is matches perfectily my red stroller. I couldn't dream anything better! Thank you so much Josée !!!
Le sac est superbe ! Grand, joli, fonctionnel, très bien fini... je n'aurais pas pu rêver mieux ! Et en plus elle ya joint un petit cadeau. C'est tellement gentil !
Maintenant je vais avoir un superbe sac pour transporter toutes les choses indispensables à la maman que je suis (couches, matelas à langer, lingettes, chapeaux, change, etc.). Et en plus il est assorti à ma poussette rouge. Que rêver de mieux ? Merci Josée !!!

Long time no see... / Ca faisait longtemps...
I know, it's been way too long since I came here. Between orders and plenty of ideas to be tested and developed, I haven't been here in a while. Sorryyy!!!
Et bien oui, ca fait bien trop longtemps que je suis passée par ici. Entre les commandes et pleins d'idées à tester et développer, j'ai été un peu absente. Sorryyyy! :)
After my new patterns got tested on my own kids... poor things? No actually they love these new garments because they are so comfy. My youngest one even got the habit to say "Mommy made it" every time we dress him. So cute...
Après avoir testé les prototypes de mes patrons pendant plusieurs semaines sur mes enfants... pauvres petits ? Nooon, ils sont bien trop contents d'avoir des vêtements agréables à porter. La phrase préférée de mon petit dernier en ce moment lorsqu'on l'habille est "maman a fait" fièrement en montrant ses vêtements. C'est vraiment trop mignon !

DIY: Stokke-tripp-trapp chair cushion
Tuto : Un cousin pour chaise Stokke-tripp-trapp
We love Stokke Tripp Trapp chairs. We love them so much that we have two of them. One for each kid. If you haven't seen them, this is a wooden chair designed in the 70’s. It looks really good, doesn't take so much space as the plastic one, is easy to clean, comes in all sorts of colors and best of all they aren't made out of plastic. They are quite pricy but since they are so well made, you can find them fairly easily second hand... or may be even third or fouth, who knows? :)
Until recently it didn't bother us not to have any cushion since it was easier to clean that way. But we just started to be really serious about potty training our little one and I finally felt like making something warm and soft for him to sit on.
So here is how to make a cushion that will work with any generation of Tripp Trapp chair.
::What you need::
- a Tripp-Trapp chair (to make the pattern)
- a piece of (organic) cotton for the outside
- some batting for the padding (needlepunched rather than bonded, so as to avoid glues and resins)
- matching thread
- scissors
- a paper bag
- a sewing machine
::How to proceed::
1. Unscrew the seat so as to release it
2. Open a paper bag or take a piece of paper that is large enough.
Display the seat on the paper and trace around it with a pen.
Trace another line 2 cm (3/4") around the first line (seem allowance.)
Cut your pattern
3. Repeat 2. so as to get another paper pattern.
Draw two lines along the long side at 7 cm (2" 3/4) from the top and 7 cm (2" 3/4) cm from the bottom.
Cut out the second pattern and keep both external strips.
4. Lay the three pieces of the pattern down on the fabric. Cut the fabric. Cut the larger piece of pattern twice.
5. Lay the larger piece of the pattern on some needlepunched batting and cut four times the pattern to get four pieces.
6. Hem both smaller pieces on the inside.
7. Take 2 (out of the 4) pieces of batting, put them on top of each other, at the back piece of the cushion right side on top, and then both stripes you just hemed. Serge or zigzag on 3 sides (leave the curved side untouched).
8. Take the remaining 2 pieces of batting, add the top part fabric right side on top. Serge or zigzag all around.
9. Take the top part right side facing up, add the back piece right side against the top part's right side. Pin both pieces together and sew on three sides 1 cm from the border (still miss the curved side).
10. Cut each angle, 2 mm before the stitched line. Turn inside out but leave stripe on the curved side the wrong side facing up.
Sew and serge (or zigzag) the curved side of the cushion. Turn the stripe inside out.
11. Find the center of the cushion and mark it with a pin. Measure the clasp of the chair (width + thickness... mine is 6 cm). Measure also how far it is situated from the border of the seat (mine is 4 cm). Draw the button hole.
12. Sew the button hole. My sewing machine didn't know how to make one that big all by itself, so I had to figure out the width of the satin stitch for both ends and the sides, and make sure that both lines were parallele, but it wasn't that difficult after all.
13. Cut the center line of the button hole using a seam riper making sure that you don't cut any of the thread.
And voilà! Your cushion is ready!!!
Don't forget to screw everything back on and make sure your chair is secure! :)

A.: I made a rag doll 9 years ago. Because I don't like plastic dolls... When I was a child, my favorite doll was a big rag doll; I loved her! When I made my first rag doll, I gave it to "my little friends at the daycare. What a surprise when I discovered that she had become the favorite amoung the kids! The rest is a chain of passions and discoveries!
P. : Quels types d'articles fabriques-tu ?
A. :Des vêtements et accessoires faits à partir de fibres écologiques. J'aime aussi faire des courtepointes et des articles pour les enfants à partir de matières recyclées.
P. : Pourquoi as-tu choisi de faire des articles pour enfants ?
A. : Parce que j'ai un cœur d'enfant ! :) Et que j'adore voir des enfants jouer avec des jouets que j'ai fabriqués moi-même !
P. : Racontes-nous quand et comment tu as commencé.
A. : J'ai fait une poupée de chiffon il y a de ça 9 ans. Parce que n'aime pas beaucoup les poupées en plastique... Quand j'étais petite, ma poupée préféré était une grande poupée de chiffon; je l'adorais! Quand j'ai fait ma première poupée de chiffon, je l'ai offerte à "mes amis de la garderie". Qu'elle ne fut pas ma surprise de voir qu'elle est devenu vite la préférée des enfants ! Le reste est un enchaînement de passions et de découvertes!

A.: At that time I was selling some items in local artcraft stores... My Mom discovered Etsy in a newspaper and told me about it. Since this discovery my life has changed! I'm an unconditional of Etsy!

Happy Earth Day!
Joyeux Jour de la Terre !
What did we do on this very special day?
We walked to our local plant nursery and bought a few plants.
The kids were really thrilled to dig holes in our micro-garden and play with dirt. Then add a few plants and water them.
The dry season is going to start soon and I don't think that they are going to bloom this year, but hopefully we are going to have some cute flowers next spring. :)

Nous avons marché jusqu'à la jardinerie de notre quartier et nous avons acheté quelques plantes.
Les enfants ont été très heureux de pouvoir creuser ces trous et jouer avec la terre de notre jardin de poche. Ensuite nous avons ajouté et arrosé ensemble les plantes.
La saison sèche va bientôt commencer et je ne pense pas qu'elles fleuriront cette année, mais j'espère que nous aurons de jolies fleurs au printemps prochain. :)

The toy issue?
Le problème du jouet ?
At home we've always preferred wooden over plastic toys. We find that "good" wooden toys are so much cuter, easier to repair (which happen quite often), feel so much warmer, and just imagine what is going to happen to those plastic toys once broken! They are going to add to the gigantic trash that we are leaving future generations to deal with! So unless they are second hand or made of recycled plastic, we always choose wood... and whenever possible reclaimed wood with water-based paint or even better just plain wood. This also happens to be a much healthier choice for the kids.
This said it's fairly easy to choose "ok" toys when you buy them yourself, but what do you do when you are not in charge? Wooden toys are more expensive and look far less impressive than plastic toys you would buy the same price. A few weeks ago when we celebrated our kids' birthday we asked their little friends to come without any present or if they really wanted to bring something, to get a small none-plastic toy. I have to admit that I felt really bad for being so picky. After all a present is a present! But I did. A few parents who were not used to buying non-plastic toys came to me and asked for some more information, but in the end the kids ended up with a few books, pieces of clothing, wooden toys and games. The little friends lefts with a homemade headband or with a little wooden car. No plastic! I'm so glad I did it!
And what about you? What to you do to prevent the invasion of toys and in particular plastic toys in your house?
A la maison, nous avons toujours préféré les jouets en bois. Nous trouvons que les "bons" jouets en bois sont tellement plus jolis et chaleureux. Et ce qui ne gache rien ils sont tellement plus faciles à réparer (ce qui arrive plus souvent qu'on le souhaiterait). Et puis imaginez ce qu'ils vont devenir une fois cassés... ils vont finir dans la gigantesque poubelle que nous laissons en héritage aux futures générations ! Sauf s'il s'agit d'objets d'occasion ou de plastique recyclé, nous choissons le bois... et si possible du bois de récupération avec des peintures à l'eau ou du bon quoi ! :)
Ceci dit, il est relativement facile de choisir des jouets "corrects" lorsque c'est vous qui faites les achats, mais comment faites-vous lorsque ce sont les autres ? A prix équivalent, les jouets en bois ont l'air nettement moins impressionnant que les jouets en plastique. Il y a quelques semaines, lorsque nous avons feté l'anniversaire des enfants, nous avons demandé à leurs petits amis de venir sans cadeau ou s'ils voulaient vraiment amener quelque chose de venir avec un petit jouet qui ne soit pas en plastique. Je dois avouer que je me sentais un peu mal à l'aise d'être aussi difficile. Après tout, un cadeau est un cadeau ! Mais je l'ai fait. Quelques parents qui n'étaient pas habitués à acheter des jouets en bois, sont venus me voir pour demander plus d'explication, mais au final les enfants ont eu quelques livres et vêtements et des jouets/jeux en bois. Les petits invités sont repartis avec des bandeaux en tissus (faits maison) ou des petites voitures en bois. Pas de plastique ! Je suis tellement contente d'avoir osé !

NEW!!! A matching bumper!!!
Nouveau !!! Un tour de lit !!!
It's been a while since I made an organic "Baby Elephant" sleepsack. I still like this design inspired by our travels to India and I've really appreciated to make it again. This time a matching organic crib bumber came as an addition. This not the easiest thing to make... this is so big and difficult to handle! But in the end I'm pretty pleased with the result. Let's hope that the little boy who is going to get it and his Mom are going to like it too. :)
Both are obviously already sold, but if you would like to get one just go here for the bumper et there for the sleep sack.

J'aime toujours autant ce design inspiré par nos voyages en Inde, et Ça faisait plaisir de le retrouver. Cette fois-ci un tour de lit bio est venu la compléter. Ce n'est vraiment pas la chose la plus facile à réaliser... c'est tellement encombrant et donc difficile à manipuler ! Mais au final je suis très satisfaite du résultat. J'espère que le petit garçon auquel il est destiné et sa maman l'apprécieront aussi. :)
