Telling a story

I love to tell stories to my kids, but it is more difficult to tell a story on this blog or in my Etsy shop in a language that is not my mother tongue. For some reason I always have the feeling that my brain is so much less creative when I start to think in another language than French.

So let's make a try! :) This morning I published a new item in my Etsy shop. I prepared the listing yesterday, and decided to change it after I read Nicolas' post on The AGteam blog. He is so right! Stories are so fun to read and will give an item a life and a soul!
The item is a little bandana bib made with an organic fabric that I absolutely had to use. In general I try to avoid anything related to movies, comics or books. But this fabric is a special one, it represents Truffula trees from the Dr Seuss' Lorax book.

This book tells the story of a man, the "Once-ler" who brings a tree species to extinction and destroys a beautiful area while making himself go from the heights of success to solitude and sadness. It is an old book but it is beautifully written and drawn, and unfortunately more to the point than ever. We read it very often to our kids and it has become one of their favorite. Hopefully they will be some day belong to those who will care for the Earth. ;)

New in my studio Des nouveautés

I can't believe that it's been two weeks since the last post. I've been so busy working in my studio getting prepared for fairs, that I haven't found the time to come here. Today, I would like to show you what new in my studio.

Je n'arrive pas à croire que ça fait déjà deux semaines que le derniere article a été publié... J'étais tellement occupée à préparer des marchés d'artisans que je n'ai pas trouvé le temps de passer par ici. Aujourd'hui j'aimerais bous présenter ce qu'il y a de nouveau dans mon studio.

Since summer is almost here I made a cute little dress named Fleur. It is hand crocheted (by me) with organic cotton yarn and cotton sateen.
Thank you so much grand'ma for teaching me how to crochet and knit!

Comme l'été approche, j'ai fait une mignonne petite robe appelée  "Fleur". Le bandeau est crocheté à la main avec du fil de coton bio, la jupe et les bretelles sont faites de satin de coton bio.

Do you like owls? I just finished a brand new bathrobe. It is so cute that my kids are begging me to make one for them.

Aimez-vous les chouettes ? Je viens juste de finir un toute nouvelle sortie de bain. Elle est tellement mignonne que mes enfants n'arrêtent pas de m'en demander une pour eux. :).

And finally I also made some over-sized pads out of organic cotton and bamboo. They are quite convenient to remove big and small messes on our little ones!

Et pour finir, j'ai aussi fait de grands lingettes de coton bio et bambou. Elles sont incroyables pour nettoyer les petits et grands dègats des enfants !

You won't see the last news, but I'm sure that you will feel the difference. Since the beginning Purepixie's sleep sacks were already padded with all natural fibers, but the big news is that after a long quest, I finally managed to find some high quality padding made out of organic cotton and bamboo. I'm SO exiting! It is so strong, fluffy and incredibly smooth, and most important, it doesn't contain any glue unlike most organic cotton padding you will find on the market! I can't wait to have new babies try it!

Vous ne pourrez pas voir la dernière nouvelle, mais je suis sûre que vous sentirez la différence. Depuis le début les turbulettes (douillettes) PurePixie sont rembourrées avec des fibres naturelles. La grande nouvelle, c'est que dorénavant elles le seront avec un mélange de cotton bio et de bambou. Ce rembourrage de grande qualité et très solide, et incroyablement doux. Plus important, il ne contient aucune colle, contrairement à la plupart des rembourrage en coton bio qui se trouvent sur le marché. J'ai tellement hâte que de nouveaux bébés l'essaient !

Just out of the oven! Tout nouveau!

If you have a little boy, you must have noticed that it is quite tricky to dress them. As long as they are babies it is pretty OK, but for some reason in the US, as soon as they turn 3, they are supposed to wear they same things as adults. This so sad. So here is a brand new jumper shirt so that little boys can also wear fun and confortable cloths.
As always it is made out of organic fabrics (organic cotton canvas here). The decoration is made with waterbased paint (i.e. without dangerous solvant).

Si vous avez un petit garçon, vous devez savoir qu'il est vraiment difficile de les habiller. Voici donc une toute nouvelle vareuse pour que les petits garçons puissent eux-aussi avoir des habits conforables et drôles.
Elle est bien entendu réalisée en toile de coton bio. La décoration est faite à la peinture acrylique non-toxique (i.e. sans dangeureux solvants).

As a follow up to the post I published a few days ago, here are brand new nursing pads. They are ultra-absorbant and incredibly soft, just like I was dreaming them the first time I nursed! I also made them with breathable fabric so as to prevent painful yeast infections.
These nursing pads come in a beautiful handmade organic cotton sateen bag, so helpful to carry them in your diaper bag and protect them while washing them. For your peace of mind, they are made out of Oekotex-100 certified bamboo and organic cotton.

Pour faire suite à l'article d'il y a quelques jours, voici de tout nouveaux coussins d'allaitement. Ils sont hyper-absorbants et incroyablement doux, tels que je les rêvais lorsque j'ai allaité la première fois ! Je les ai faits respirants pour que vous puissiez éviter cet affreux muguet.
Les coussins vous arriveront dans un joli sac en satin de coton bio tellement pratique pour les transporter dans votre sac et les laver en toute sécurité. Pour votre tranquillité d'esprit, ils sont réalisés en bambou certifié Oekotex-100 et coton bio.

GOTS is in the air! Y'a du GOTS dans l'air !

Yes, there is a lot going on at the moment. I take advantage of the "free" time left by two kids in preschool to make plenty of things I had in mind. 

Eh bien oui, ca bouge ne ce moment. Je profite d'avoir les deux enfants scolarisés pour créer plein de choses que j'avais en tête.

Let's start with the big news! Both the organic cotton velour and the organic sateen fabrics used for PurePixie's sleep sacks are GOTS certified! Why GOTS? This is because GOTS certification is way stricter. It doesn't only certifies that the fibers were grown organically, it watches also the manufacture of the fabric and make sure that it is ecological and socially responsible. That's pretty reassuring isn't it?

Je vais commencer par la grande nouvelle. Le velour et le satin de coton utilisé dans les turbulettes PurePixie sont désormais certifiés bio GOTS. Pourquoi GOTS ? Parce que c'est la certification la plus stricte. Elle ne se contente pas de certifier la culture, elle regarde tout le processus de production du tissus et permet de s'assurer qu'il est fabriqué de manière responsable écologiquement et socialement. C'est plutot rassurant, non ?

Talking about security,  what is more reassuring than see your child sleep on GOTS certified sheets? I just made organic cotton sateen crib sheets, that you can already find in my shop. Because they are made our of a woven fabric, they are way easier to put on than jersey sheets. You won't be afraid to unravel them by stretching them. These sheets are also incredibly soft and will get softer and softer as you wash them. My kids love them.

Et parlant de se rassurer, quoi de plus rassurant que de voir dormir son enfant sur un drap certifié GOTS ? Je viens juste de fabriquer un drap housse en satin de coton bio pour lit d'enfant que vous pouvez trouver, dès maintenant dans ma boutique. Il est beaucoup plus facile a mettre que les draps en jersey qu'il faut souvent tellement étirer qu'on a peur qu'ils ne s'errailent a chaque fois. Ce drap de satin bio est incroyablement doux au toucher et deviendra toujours plus doux au fil des lavages. Mes enfants l'adorent. 

And since I was making some new stuff, I also made a Valentine gift bag for the reusable organic cotton facial pads. Happy Valentine!!!

Something NEW to celebrate the new year...

A brand new sleep sack!!! This one is gender neutral for those who want to make sure that they will be able to reuse it with the next child. And yes, you've probably noticed it already. I'm a lot into owls at the moment. They are so cute. Don't you think so?

This is the exact same smart hooded towel as the blue and the yellow that are already offered in PurePixie's shop: thick Oekotex-100 certified bamboo and organic cotton terry, and organic cotton sateen for the decoration. Just like the other colors it also comes with a strap to help you hold on your baby not on the towel. :)

Il s'agit du meme carré de bain deja offert en bleu et en jaune dans ma boutique : tissus éponge épais de bamboo certifié Oekotex-100 et coton bio, et satin de coton bio pour la décoration. After making bathrobes and hooded towels, I surely had to go for it. So here it is! PurePixie's Etsy store offers now an eco-friendly bath poncho for those of you who don't want to have to deal with sleeves, but still want something super soft, warm and cute to dry their little one after the bath.

This bath poncho is made out of the same organic cotton and bamboo fabric as the bathrobes. The pixie hood is attached with snap and can be removed so as to offer you a lot of flexibility.

Après les sorties de bain et les carrés de bain, il fallait bien que je m'y mette. Et bien voilà, c'est fait ! NEW!!! A matching bumper!!! Nouveau !!! Un tour de lit !!!

It's been a while since I made an organic "Baby Elephant" sleepsack. I still like this design inspired by our travels to India and I've really appreciated to make it again. This time a matching organic crib bumber came as an addition. This not the easiest thing to make... this is so big and difficult to handle! But in the end I'm pretty pleased with the result. Let's hope that the little boy who is going to get it and his Mom are going to like it too. :)

Ça fait un moment que je n'avais pas eu l'occasion de refaire la turbulette "Bébé éléphant" bio. J'aime toujours autant ce design inspiré par nos voyages en Inde, et Ça faisait plaisir de le retrouver. Cette fois-ci un tour de lit bio est venu la compléter. Ce n'est vraiment pas la chose la plus facile à réaliser... c'est tellement encombrant et donc difficile à manipuler ! Mais au final je suis très satisfaite du résultat. J'espère que le petit garçon auquel il est destiné et sa maman l'apprécieront aussi. :)

It's been such a long time since I got this little bathrobe in mind! I so happy that I could finally make look the way I was dreaming it.
This said I would like to thank you my friend CurlyMonkey for helping me to chose the right paint. When you use organic fabrics, you also want to use solvant-free eco-friendly paints, right?

Ça fait tellement longtemps que je l'avais dans la tête cette petite sortie de bain ! Je suis vraiment contente d'avoir finalement réussi à la faire telle que je la rêvais.
Je tiens à cette occasion à remercier CurlyMonkey pour son aide dans le choix de peintures. Parce qu'avec des tissus bio, il va de soit d'utiliser des peintures sans solvant et respectueuses de l'environnement, n'est-ce pas !
